Introduction |

Although you may be initially overwhelmed by a boisterous 'hello' from my cocker spaniel, Biggles, I would like to welcome you to Westerclose for a truly relaxing experience. My background includes a growing interest in nutrition as well as qualifications in anatomy and physiology, facial rejuvenation and Indian head massage (ITEC). I prefer to call the latter an ‘upper-body massage’, as it embraces the upper back and arms, shoulders, neck, scalp and face. (It is carried out through the clothes, with the client sitting in a chair – there is easy access to my clinic, so those with mobility problems are by no means excluded.) Moisturising and soothing oils may be used for the scalp and hair.

The physical benefits of the body massage come from its stimulation of the blood supply, which boosts the delivery of nourishment and oxygen to tired and tense muscles and improves lymphatic drainage (the body’s natural way of removing toxins). In this way, relief comes to tense or painful muscles, and the body feels revitalised. Psychologically the treatment should leave you feeling both calm and alert – and, ultimately, pampered.

Facial rejuvenation is achieved through a natural facelift massage, designed to be gentle and non-invasive. Everyday tensions, our thoughts and emotions create habitual expressions and etch what we fondly (and correctly) call our character lines. They also make our muscles contract. This subsequent loss of muscle tone and elasticity, and the dryness of age, gives us wrinkles. With simple massage techniques and energy balancing, facial muscles can be freed up and given a new lease of life. I find that the end result, whilst not erasing any individuality, leaves the eyes and face looking brighter and fresher.

To make you feel even better, I am delighted to be able to stock two exciting lines of skincare and luxury bodycare products.

One is a range made by The Little Herbal Company, which specializes in creams, soaps and shampoos for people (from babies to grannies) with skin problems, such as eczema, psoriasis, rosacea and cold sores – the products are so delicious, I use them anyway. -- www.littleherbal.co.uk

News! Now they have added The Little Herbal Pimple Pack for those of us with teenagers and/or skin like mine that wreaks vengeance whenever I over-indulge in chocolate truffles.  Amongst the pack’s goodies are African Tea Tree Oil and Themba Herbal Skin Cream, a combination that has proved to be a very effective natural alternative to chemical solutions on the market (and recommended in The Sunday Times Style magazine in October).  Also available is a soap for acne sufferers.  Do phone or email me for more details.

The other range is from Long Barn, a specialist lavender farm in Owlesbury which uses only the finest ingredients and no fertilizers, insecticides or fungicides in its lavender fields, nor animal fats, artificial fragrances or chemical preservatives in its products. In short, if you love lavender and are pro-organic, look no further… (Their packaging is also terrific, so if you can part with any of your purchases they would make stylish presents.) -- www.long-barn.co.uk
